WEEKLY UPDATE 11/9/08

• Happy birthday DANE! 1 Year old this past week. We had another great week capped off with an amazing birthday celebration for our little man. It's hard to believe it's been a year. Any day now and we'll be posting a video of his first steps...stay tuned.

• Josh has been enjoying preschool. When we picked him up the other day he let out a big sigh and said, "Dad, I love my school."

• Lanie has been loving kindergarten. She especially loves her afternoon bus driver Victor. They have both won each other over big time. Lanie always has something to tell us about Victor. And Victor tells us that Lanie has all sorts of stories for him...some of them quite unbelievable. Lanie also had a hearing test this week. It appears that her left ear may have some problems...we'll be going in on the 17th for another couple of tests.

• Madison has been doing very well in school. Her teacher Mrs. Asay raves about her. And who wouldn't? She's a very special girl!

LOOK OUT!!

As I was playing with Dane on Saturday a very strange fear gripped me. He was standing over me waving this golf ball at high speed over his head. At any moment the ball was going to fly free and knock me out. Instead of grabbing his hand like a man...I cowered and hid my face in my hands. It wasn't one of my best moments. I never thought I would be afraid of what an 11 month old could do.

WEEKLY UPDATE 10/19/2008

There's nothing more exhilarating than a free climb with no ropes and no parents around. We shouldn't condone this behavior but this happened so fast and with such great skill it can't be ignored. We're happy we found him before he broke his neck and that we could snap this cute picture. You gotta keep a close eye on Dane or else he will get away from you.

• Madison had a great week. She had school until Wednesday and then was off for fall recess. She had a dentist check-up and passed with flying colors!

• Lanie too had a short week capped of with a fun party with her kindergarten class. Missy asked a few of Lanie's classmates what they think of her. She had some fun responses. One said "She is very nice...but gets in trouble a lot...but I get in trouble too." Another said, "If you don't know something just ask Lanie...she knows everything!"

• Josh has been doing well in preschool. He's learning his letters well and making good friends in class. He's such a good boy.

• Dane has been, as you can see from the pictures above, really busy. He loves climbing, scavenging, crawling and playing with his brother and sisters.

The Case of the Missing Madison

Madison came to work with me today after lunch. We rode our bikes down the busy street and over the pedestrian overpass. It was really fun. Here at the office she has been reading her new "Chapter Book" from school, "Junie B. Jones and and a Little Monkey Business". I went to the restroom to do my thing leaving Madison behind. When I came back she was no where to be found. I asked all the employees if they had seen her and they said that they hadn't. I checked all the offices...no luck. I went back to my office to see if she had returned. To my surprise on my desk was this fantastic little note:

Another great week this week!

• Madison had a great time returning to school this week. She gets bored out of her mind being home with Missy for 3 weeks straight. She thinks that when she's out of school everyday should be a party.
• Lanie too, has loved being back in school. She tells us little about what goes on in class but her bus driver Victor so much that he is the topic of much conversation. Some of the things she tells us are pretty off the wall though...today she told me that Victor works at Destinations with me. She's still learning the difference between reality and what she dreams up in that cute little head.
• Josh has loved being at school too. He was chosen to take home the class teddy bear this week which has stayed in his room. It came home with it's own travel bag complete with pajamas and a journal to write down all the fun things he did with the bear this week.
• Dane was up to his same tricks of pulling out the DVD's, making a mess with the cans in the pantry and falling out of his high chair. He landed OK but it was pretty scary.

• Chase, Robyn & Annilee are in town for a little while....it sure is great to have them back. We watched Annilee while Chase and Robear went to the temple. We had a great time. Annilee laughs and smiles at everything Josh does...it's great!

Well we dropped the ball a little here. I had a trip I went on a couple of days after Madison's Birthday and wasn't able to post anything for her birthday. Anyway our little cutie is now 7 and growing up way too fast. WE LOVE MADISON!!!

WEEKLY UPDATE 4/6/2008

Another Great Week!

• Madison had an awesome "Friend Party" on Friday after school. She had her friends over for some games, fun and cupcakes. We borrowed the bounce house from Gramma Glo and Gramps for some crazy bouncing fun. Then we lined the kids up on two sides and had a rousing game of Red Rover. Everyone had a fun time. She will be celebrating her birthday on Tuesday the 8th. We'll post all the fun pictures and stuff then.
• Lanie has been doing well. She is always keeping us on our toes with her sometimes bizarre anecdotes...check out this week's video where she declares "I'm not throwing up!"

• Josh has been doing great. He's still acting like a manly man but still found time to cuddle with his dad on the couch during general conference. We needed to find a way to get the wiggles out of the kids so we had them run laps in the back yard in between sessions. This had more of the desired effect in calming everyone down. It put Josh into a 2 hour coma during the second Sunday session. It was really nice!
• Dane is doing so great. Still up to his smiley self he is becoming more aware of the things he can get his hands on. The slobber is really getting out of control though. We have to change his shirt several times a day because he likes to take his bibs off. What a cute little guy.

WEEKLY UPDATE 3/23/2008

EASTER 2008

• Easter Sunday has capped off another great week for the Lambert Family. Here are just a few of the highlights.

• Missy and I dressed up in 80's style to celebrate Rick & Nick's birthday. It was pretty sad to relive a time of heavy makeup and pegged pants. The 80's can stay where they are as far as we're concerned. Click here to see some pictures.
• Madsion had a short week at school because of spring break. Nanny came and picked her up and they drove up to Brigham City for a sleepover with the Gibson's. She has just started sharing rooms with Dane. Which works out pretty good since she is such a heavy sleeper. World War III could break out in the front yard and she wouldn't wake up for it.
• Lanie has had a lot of fun gearing up for her birthday. She really can't stop thinking about it. This year she wanted a Hannah Montana themed birthday party. Which we will highlight here on the Journal later this week.
• Josh is...well...going through a major phase. He is very manly. Everything is a sword or a gun and he does whatever we do not want him to do. He is really struggling to be his own person and not be told what to do. He's really rambunctious and hard to control. His biggest thing lately is to wear his Superman out fit all the time. We still love him though.
• Dane has graduated from the small cradle in our room to his crib up in Madison's room. He sometimes sleeps well. But for the most part he wakes up in the wee hours just to keep Missy guessing. He is so smiley and so pleasant. Sometime when you walk across the room you'll catch his eye and he cracks a huge smile. He just love to be here.

Life is so good. We can't complain.

Letter from the Prophet

On the day that President Monsen was announced as the new Prophet of the Church I sent a letter thanking him for his service. I also let him know that we would follow him as we had followed President Hinckley. Well we received his reply today... Is there any wonder why we love this this great man?

WEEKLY UPDATE 2/24/2008

Sorry we missed last week. I was out of town with Rick in Orlando with the Coldwell Banker Group. We had a great time. In case you missed it here is the video of our ride on the roller coaster.

• The kids are up to their usual shenanigans. Madison went back on track last week and has been doing great. Her cousin Brooke came down from Brigham City to sleep over on Friday night and then Papa came and picked them up for another sleep over at his house for Saturday night. She really had a great time but on her way up to her room she said to herself "Oh!...It's so good to be home!"
• Lanie has been doing great in school. She has finally showed interest in writing and has started to ask us how to spell some words. We've really felt that she expresses her little testimony through song. We were able to nab a recording of her singing a primary song. It's just audio but it's very cute to hear her little voice. Hear it here.
• Josh has been having fun lately. His favorite thing has been hanging out at the pool. The only problem is that he fights tooth and nail when it's time to go home. Here's a little taste of how fun it really is...

WEEKLY UPDATE 2/10/2008

In his prime!

• Well my excursion through my late 20's continues. Turning 28 is much better that 30...we'll see what that's like here in a few years. My birthday was a lot of fun. I took the day off of work and took Madison on a Daddy-Daughter Date to the Joseph Smith Movie downtown at the at the JS Memorial Building. We then shared a sack lunch of peanut butter and honey and Capri Sun's. After that we went to the SLC Cemetery to see the grave of Charles Lambert. After that we came home and Missy and I got ready and went out to the new Cheesecake Factory Restaurant. The food was good but very pricey...good thing we had a gift certificate. We came home and had a "Transformers" themed birthday party (please note the table cloth in the picture above). Which now that I think about it was more for Josh than anyone else.

• Madison returns to school tomorrow which Missy and I are excited for. She has a lot of energy that needs to be spent somewhere other than home (she has been driving us crazy).
• Lanie is excited for Valentines Day at school this week. She will be exchanging Valentines tomorrow since she is not at school on Thursdays.
• Josh has been awesome at going on the potty. He doesn't need a pull up when he takes a nap anymore.
• Dane has been sleeping all the way through the night...FINALLY. Missy has been getting some well needed rest. We know you're not supposed to have favorites but right now that's what we think of him. He's just no trouble at all.

We Thank thee O God for a Prophet!

President Hinckley dies at 97.

We were about to post our Weekly Update and then we heard of President Hinckley's death. No other prophet of the Church besides Joseph Smith has had more influence in my life than Pres. Hinckley. I'll never forget tracing my finger over his signature on my mission call. The Spirit filled my heart and helped me understand that I had been called as a representative of the Lord by a prophet of God. I have testified of his prophetic calling countless times. I know he was called of God. He was an amazing man and the Lambert Family will always have a soft spot in our heart for him. We look forward to sustaining a new prophet and we will give our lives to sustain his witness.

WEEKLY UPDATE 1/20/2008

Car Show 2008!

• Madison had another great week capped off by her very first read-athon. She took a couple of books, a candy bar and one of her stuffed animals. She had a lot of fun.
• Lanie had a good week at school too. She has been getting better at writing her own name. And as you can see from the video above she had a great time at the car show on Saturday.
• Josh has been up to the usual antics...swordplay...pretending to be a dragon, etc... His latest thing is to wear his pajama pants whenever he is home. He knows how to get comfy.
• Dane is the cutest little guy. He is such a good baby. We sure love little Dane.

WEEKLY UPDATE 1/13/2008

STUDENT OF THE WEEK!!!

• As you can see, Madison had a great week at school. She was so excited to bring home the Student of the Week Certificate. She also brought home a perfect score on her 15 word spelling test. She really is a great student!! We are so proud of her.
• Lanie had another great week. Her preschool teacher, Miss Jen, had to change jobs so her new teacher is now Miss Judy. She has really enjoyed going to Lifetime Fitness to play in the kids center and LOVES the red slide.
• Josh really has been improving on going potty. He has been singing songs all over the house sometimes pretty loudly. He has also enjoyed playing with his Christmas toys which he promptly turns into a sword...Anything can be a sword.
• Dane just keeps eating and growing. He is now up to 14 lbs and 24 inches long. Still a BIG boy.

Dane's Blessing

• What another great week capped off by Dane's Blessing! With the change to our new 9:00 AM church schedule it was really hard to get all 4 kids ready on time. We made it with about 10 minutes to spare. During the blessing Dane was very calm and awake and he couldn't keep his eyes of of Grandpa Lambert. Click here for pictures.
